General Manager at Barkefellers Indy West
Where did you grow up?
I grew up on the west side of Indianapolis.
Where did you go to school?
I attended the Wayne Township District and graduated from Ben Davis High School in 2018. I was majoring in Elementary Education at IUPUI but have decided to take some time off. I am hoping to go back within the next few years and major in Social Work.
What’s your favorite thing about working with dogs?
My favorite thing about working with dogs would be the amount of love and positive energy you receive. Whether you’re having a bad day or in need of extra love, these dogs will make your day better. I also love getting to know each of their personalities. You’ll never find two of the same dogs!
What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the job would be getting to know our customers and their furry babies. I’ve had the opportunity of meeting many people over the last few years. Many of our regulars have been coming since they were puppies, and it’s a warm feeling seeing them grow up, gain confidence and develop their personalities as they become mature adults.
How many years of experience do you have working with dogs (and how many of those are at Barkefellers)?
Before Barkefellers, I volunteered at IACS for about 2 years. I would help take dogs outside for potty breaks and help clean their kennels. Growing up, my family had a Saint Bernard, Booki, and an American Cocker Spaniel, Charlie. They are both in their older years now and love to sleep throughout the day. I began working at Barkefellers in 2019 due to my love for animals. I’ve been here since and have learned so much, as well as gained many friendships!
What are you most looking forward to this year?
I am looking forward to this position! This position is a new opportunity to learn more about the company and all the services we provide. I am very excited!
Do you have any pets of your own?
Last year, I adopted a dachshund! His name is Thumper, and he is turning 1 this month. He loves going on walks and playing in the water. Although he tends to bark when he meets new people, he’s the sweetest boy once he becomes comfortable. Adopting him is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Although some may think he’s just a dog, he is my soulmate, and I would do anything for him.
What hobbies do you have outside of work?
A few of my hobbies include gardening, sketching, and making jewelry. I research and care for plants, as they give me a sense of tranquility. I really enjoy going to plant stores and picking out new plants to add to my collection. Another hobby I have consists of making jewelry. I took classes for 4 years. In these classes, I learned how to make rings, bracelets, and earrings using different types of metals.
What is the most exciting thing on your bucket list?
The most exciting thing on my bucket list includes traveling through South America. I would love to learn more about different countries as well as their culture. I’m hoping this trip lasts around 2-3 months. This will give me enough time to enjoy the moment.
What do you listen to while in your car?
I enjoy listening to music while driving. My go-to includes R&B, Indie, and Alternative music.
